Currently, annual volumes of waste glass exceeding 400,000 tonnes are being stockpiled in landfills across Australia rather than recycled. Textile waste volumes are nearly double those of glass and have no viable recycling solutions under
current waste management frameworks.
The UNSW SMaRT Microfactorie™ has developed an innovative solution for relieving waste glass, textile, and building material volumes by diverting problematic waste to the recyclable feedstock to produce Green Ceramic™ products.
Green Ceramics use a minimum 90% of waste content.
A Life Cycle Analysis was conducted by the UNSW SMaRT Centre, identifying that every square meter of Green Ceramics offsets 36km worth of CO2 from vehicle exhaust and 10% of an average Australian household's daily use.
